ASSURE Model

According to https://www.instructionaldesign.org/models/assure/ The ASSURE model is an ISD (Instructional Systems Design) process that was modified to be used by teachers in the regular classroom. The ISD process is one in which teachers and trainers can use to design and develop the most appropriate learning environment for their students. The acronym ASSURE stands for:

A — Analyze learners  S — State standards & objectives S — Select strategies technology media & materials, U — Utilize technology media & materials R — Require learner participation E — Evaluate & revise

State Standards and Objectives

when analysis is completed, the teacher should state the standard and objectives for the learning module. This statement must show the specifications on what the individuals will be able to do according to the instructions provided. to be enlightened a bit more, this statement will focus on what the learner will know or be able to do. The objectives are used to determine the success of the students. Also It can also be used to let the learners know what is to be accomplished at the end of the project.
A well- stated learning objectives is a good example of the ABCD's and they are as follow:
  • Audience-whom is the target audience?
  • Behavior- what type of behavior is to be demonstrated
  • Conditions- what are the conditions under which the behavior will be observed?
  • Degree- what degree will the knowledge or skill be mastered?

The ABCDs Of Well-Stated Objectives

  1. Audience
  • Focus on what the learner is doing, not on what the teacher is doing .
  • When the learner is active mentally learning is most likely to take place processing  ideas or physically practicing a skill.
  • The objective begins by stating whose capability is going to be changed.
     2. Behavior
  • The verb is the heart of the objectives describing the new capability that the audience will have after instruction.
  • If the verb is stated clearly as an observable behavior it is most likely to communicate your intent.
  • What will the learner be able to do after completing instruction?
  • Vague terms such as know, understand and appreciate do not communicate your aim clearly.
   3. Conditions
A statement of objectives should include the conditions under which performance is to be observed, if such conditions are relevant.

    4. Degree

The final requirement of a well stated objective is to indicate the standard by which acceptable performance will be judge includes.

Classification Of Objectives

objectives may be arranged according  to the primary type of learning result at which it is aimed.  There is a spectrum of ideas on the best way to describe and organize the subsets of learning and these are : cognitive , effective, and motor skills.

  • Cognitive- learning involves the batch of creative competence from simple accurate recall to the generation of progressed theories.

  • Effective- feelings and values are affected by learning. Objectives in the efficient territory may  form stimulating interest in an institution subject to boost healthy social attitudes to adopting a set of ethical standards.

  • Motor skills- learning involves manual,  athletical and other such physical skills. Capabilities that  range from simple mechanical operations to those entailing- sophisticated neuromuscular coordination and strategy as in school sports is an objective in the motor skill.
